Bolivia: Sucre and La Paz

  1. It’s a bit like reading a Monty Python skit where no one realizes they’re in a Monty Python skit. You definitely put the adventure in adventure travel. I thank you for doing that. All your waterfalls reminded me that I found an old trail that descends from up near Lumberjack’s down to the Covenant, right beside the waterfall. Do you know it?

    1. Thanks Gary. Regarding the waterfall that’s my backyard of course I know it. A new bridge over the creek and a little bit of work on the downhill connection to the covenant and it would be a nice short ride. Maybe you should talk to the new SORCA trail guy 🙂

  2. Love reading of your adventures—it puts our few into perspective. 🙂 Our latest was simply spending too long waiting for our land lady to show up, and when she didn’t ending up in a 4 star hotel!
Thank you so much for sharing.

  3. Well I had a very good laugh reading your experiences in Bolivia because I could relate to it, having gone there myself back in the day. Getting directions from locals, “ un poco mas para ya”… yeah right… would nearly always lead us to nowhere! Thanks for the exceptional photos and details of your travels. Be kind to yourselves. Bon voyage! Shelley

A bientôt …. Jim tu es bon d’ecrire autant.

  7. Reminds me of some of the roads we drove in India through the outer Himalayas.
Terrifying but it does make for awesome pictures and will probably be some of the more memorable biking days of your trip!
Excited and nervous to get back on the Squamish bike trails with you guys, you’ll have no fear and such strong legs!
Missing you always, lots of love,

    1. Thanks sweetie
We also look forward to getting back mountain biking with you but I am not sure how strong we will be. Touring is such a different ‘sport’ Mind you, riding into Cusco today in traffic was pretty technical plus I had a flat that I changed on a busy boulevard. Had to use a restaurant’s bathroom to find the leak….always something new.
      Love you

Soyez prudents. Je vous aime xox

  9. Hi Jim and Claire, we are here in Victoria, visiting with Mable. We just read your last couple of blogs and we are blown away. Mable says she just can’t believe it! What an incredible journey and meeting all those people, riding your bike in such a different world. Still so poor but rich in spirit! Good on you, Claire and Jim too (: Have to go, it’s time for Mable’s nap. She was exhausted by all your adventures! Hugs John, Carole and Mable xoxo!

    1. Thanks for reading to Mom Carole…. much appreciated! Funny to hear she’s exhausted after hearing about it. I must admit there are far too many days that we feel pretty exhausted by the time we pull into wherever we are staying.
      Love Jim & Claire

  10. Cusco!! Didn’t know you were going there, we loved that place! If you have time I highly recommend “La Bo’M Creperia and Backpackers”, they have the best breakfast crepes served all day.
Love the stories! Thanks so much for sharing them! Let me know if you want some intel on the area, we were there in June/July and was amazing!
